News and Announcements / Quick Update
« on: January 25, 2017, 08:30:05 PM »
Just wanted to give a quick update on what I've been working on, what's new and what's to come in the coming weeks.

I'm in the final stages of re-writing the last pieces of the server and client coding. I'll be done with all the new accounts and character databases by the end of this week. The new game options are almost complete, which features more key-mapping options and a completely rewritten sound and music player (loop options, more sound options, custom volume controls).

I am planning to start letting the Closed Testers in the new world to test within the next few weeks. At the time the Deloria Map It! map editor utility will be released for public testing. I will be posting on the forums a comprehensive list of all the new changes and improvements to Deloria Online within the week.

Remember to sign-up on the forums for up-to-date information and Closed Alpha access.

Hope to see you all in the new world soon!

Polls / Would you prefer if bank accounts were shared for all characters?
« on: January 05, 2017, 03:15:55 PM »
Would you prefer if bank accounts were shared for all characters, or keep per character for more space. Item bound policies would still be in place, and bound items are character bound not account bound.

News and Announcements / Deloria Map It! Makeover
« on: January 04, 2017, 11:37:15 PM »
Deloria Map It! got a major coding update as well as a cosmetic one. Many features were improved as well as a redesign of the user interface.

The 'Graphic Layer Tool' was improved, as well now you can auto-populate your personal clipboard from tiles used on that specific map (Edit-Clipboard Options).  I will continue to work on improving the editor tools as well as finishing up the new 'Search and Replace' tool, which has many new features and options.

Like always, if you have any problems, please post them on the appropriate forums.

Deloria Map It! General Discussion / Sample Maps Needed!
« on: January 04, 2017, 02:01:19 PM »
Any closed testers that want to try making some maps and want to submit one, I am looking for a few sample maps to include in a future installer release. There are no requirements for size or anything, and feel free to take a look at any game maps for examples. I do ask maps be 'clean' and proper tile layers are used. You can refer to game maps for this too.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Deloria Map It! General Discussion / Deloria Map It! Changes
« on: January 03, 2017, 02:13:31 AM »
To current closed testers who are playing around with the map editor, I made some big changes on how it loads and saves maps, depending on the user and if they are game maps or custom maps. I did this so game maps would not overwrite custom maps players create. Game maps will still be named 'map#.dmp' while custom maps will now be named 'custom#.dmp'

If you have any problems with the new naming, please let me know.

Wanted to wish all Delorians a merry and safe Christmas!

News and Announcements / New Party Code
« on: December 19, 2016, 11:12:18 PM »
The Party code (Grouping/Partners) has been totally rewritten.  Parties are now their own entity and will work much better than in the past. Parties level-up as players level-up, unlocking a bunch of perks and bonuses (increased experience, luck, regeneration, etc). Being in a party is always beneficial, not only for the increased rewards, but for the ability sharing as well.  The Party leader can open the party up, allowing anyone in the zone to join freely. Players will be notified of open parties when joining new maps when not already in a party, or they can search for open parties in the Party Menu 'P'.

News and Announcements / Removed old controls
« on: December 12, 2016, 10:39:55 AM »
I have removed some of the old controls in the Deloria Online projects that caused some install problems from previous versions (depending if they registered libraries correctly). I have removed the Microsoft Internet Controls as well as the mftpx controls. Deloria Online now uses winsock HTTP to download and install patches.

News and Announcements / New Abilities Explained
« on: December 07, 2016, 10:12:52 PM »
I want to give another quick update on some of the things I have been working on.  I was not satisfied with the amount of abilities I had before so I have been working even longer to bring a lot more abilities to builds. I am planning characters to have 14 ability points total for end game. This will give players an even larger variety of builds. I will breakdown some build examples below. I have also attached a screenshot of the new ability tree for the mage.

Taking the above screenshot into consideration, you can estimate getting about 3 of the 6 ability trees by end-game, and unlocking up to 3 ultimates. Ultimates are the last column in the ability screen. Ultimates require all attached abilities to be learned before they can be learned.

Build #1 Pure Elemental DPS: You specialize in taking the top three ability trees, gaining the most dps abilities as well as unlocking both the dps ultimates.

Build #2 Hybrid Elemental: You specialize in taking two of the top three ability trees and one other row. This will give you one dps ultimate and allows the player to take (for example) the general row (which is the same for all classes) which unlocks a bunch of passives and a player teleport ultimate which removes movement impairing affects. If the player would rather be a self-sustainer, they may choose the heal row of the cleric instead but be limited to just the 1 ultimate.

Build #3 Full Cleric: You specialize in taking both the cleric rows, unlocking all the heal, heal-over-time and buff enhancement abilities as well as the cleric ultimate Healing Rain. Healing rain is a wide area heal (11x11 tiles) which also applies a heal over time. The full cleric also has the choice of another row, taking the general row gaining a second ultimate or possibly even one of the elemental rows, forfeiting a second ultimate.

As you can see, the mage abilities are almost complete and I may require some private testers soon to test some abilities. Remember to sign-up on the forums to be eligible for the private testing.

I'll post more soon!

News and Announcements / New features of Deloria Online 4.2
« on: November 30, 2016, 05:40:25 PM »
Below are some of the new features for Deloria Online 4.2. There is so much new and I am excited to tell you some of the changes

- 2 Classes to start, Warrior and Mage
- Strength is primary stat for Warriors and Intellect for Mages. 4 Secondary stats still apply (Stamina, Dexterity, Agility and Wisdom). These secondary stats now give different benefits and bonuses.
- Default attack is now a standalone ability all classes get. Default attack now only scales with weapon damage. All abilities use primary and secondary stats for their damage calculators.
- Classes have 4 ability trees to expand through for abilities and spells, this allows a variety of builds. With default attack scaling off weapon damage only, this allows even more builds.
- As you level you gain Training Skills that you can use to raise primary and secondary stats, dispersing them according to your build.
- As you level as well as some main quest lines, you will also be rewarded Ability Points. These Ability Points are used at trainers to learn new abilities and spells.

Besides new class changes, a lot of re-coding has been done throughout the whole game

- New screen size is much bigger
- New questing system
- All new graphics and maps. The world is definitely coming along. As a new player, everyone will start in a starter zone where they will quest and learn the basics of the game as well as unlocking their first few abilities. I have included more of a story-line this time around that will play a part throughout questing and the game.
- Item bound system
- Character statistics and leader boards
- Many new visualizations, special effects and sounds added to a variety of things to the game.

I want to keep a lot of what is in the game a secret so players can experience it as they play, but I will release a few screenshots on the forums real soon. I want to have a pretty smooth starter zone before I release first alpha test. I do not have any time frame of when testing will start, but I am coding on Deloria full-time again so I am getting stuff done quite quickly.

I also want to note that the whole ability system was rewritten. It no longer looks for a target before trying to cast something. It now casts and reacts appropriately. This new re-code makes abilities work much better and I keep adding new options as I go along and add new abilities. Some abilities/spells are instant cast and some have a casting timer/animation. For example, the aoe Fire Wave can hit 3 targets with 1 cast, but has a small cast time. Also, All abilities have PvP in mind. They can be used on both players and Npc. Down the road I would like to add 1-2 pvp battle grounds in and see all these abilities in action. The town arena just won't cut it anymore.

I'll post screenshots soon and post on forums when I need a few testers. Remember to sign-up!
